The in-app Windows FFmpeg bootstrap (installs to %LOCALAPPDATA%/VideoTools/bin) has not been validated on a machine with no FFmpeg in PATH.

Validation steps:

  • Run VideoTools on a clean Windows install with no FFmpeg present
  • Confirm bootstrap prompt appears and installs successfully
  • Confirm modules unlock without app restart
  • Confirm FFprobe resolves to app-local install on next launch

No-cost option: Windows Sandbox (built into Windows 10/11 Pro) provides a throwaway clean environment.
Cycle: dev31
